We have been learning a lot about Spring in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class.

We have looked at an tEarrach in Gaeilge and have learned about different spring plants and animals. We went on a Siúlóid Nadúr to Griffith Park during Seachtain na Gaeilge to try and see could we locate some of the animals and plants.

We also learned about the Lifecycle of a plant. We planted some Green Beans and watched them grow from a seed to seedling in a sandwich bag with some damp kitchen roll. We knew that plants required warmth, moisture, and sunlight to grow, so we experimented with these needs by putting one of the seeds in the damp tissue in a dark cupboard to see if it would grow without sunlight. When the other seeds had sprouted into a seedling we checked on the one in the cupboard. It had grown significantly less compared to the seeds in the window. We then transferred the seedlings into a small pot with soil for it to grow into a plant.

Art – We completed lovely springtime pointillism art based on a field of flowers and the shining sun. We used cotton buds to create the pointillism effect. They all turned out beautiful.
